Garrett Q. Bland
Garrett Bland is a Financial Advisor and Managing Director at J.P. Morgan Securities, the wealth management division of J.P. Morgan. Barron's magazine has named him one of California's Top 100 Financial Advisors for six years in a row (2009-2014).¹ This prestigious award is in recognition of his outstanding commitment to clients and reflects the confidence and trust clients place in him as he focuses on delivering a personalized approach coupled with tailored investment services for his clients. He served as the Regional Director for Southern California from 2003-2013.
Garrett advises clients and provides them with leading insights, services and strategies to help them achieve their goals. He is passionate about financial markets, and enjoys unique exposure to a broad spectrum of innovative, actionable ideas. He combines this special knowledge with the incredible resources of J.P. Morgan, relying on the firm's broad based thinking, its opportunistic ideas, and its deep research and experience to develop highly disciplined portfolio strategies that match his clients' individual needs.
Garrett's upbringing was steeped in the financial markets—his father was an auditor at the audit, tax and advisory firm KPMG for 40 years—so no one was surprised when he joined J.P. Morgan as an intern in 1989 while still an undergraduate at UCLA. He has been with the firm ever since, becoming Managing Director in 1996 and Regional Director in 2003. He received his B.A. in Economics from the University of California at Los Angeles in 1990.
Garrett is a committee member of the J.P. Morgan Foundation for Greater Los Angeles and board member of the Board of Directors of LA's Best and board member of the California Council of Economic Education. Past affiliations include Chairman of the Board of Deacons at Calvary Christian Church, Board of Trustees for the Children's Bureau, board member of the Orange County Community Housing Corporation, member of the Executive Board for the Western Los Angeles Area County Council of the Boy Scouts of America, Board of Directors for the Asia Society Los Angeles, and member of the investment committee of Calvary Christian School Foundation. In his spare time, Garrett enjoys surfing and golfing at Bel-Air Country Club and Riviera Country Club. He and his wife have three children and live in Pacific Palisades, CA.

¹ The Barron's rankings are based on data provided by over 4,000 of the nation's most productive advisors. Factors included in the rankings: assets under management, revenue produced for the firm, regulatory record, quality of practice and philanthropic work. Investment performance isn't an explicit component because not all advisors have audited results and because performance figures often are influenced more by clients' risk tolerance than by an advisor's investment- picking abilities.
